The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Fans' Second Season Predictions — With Some Good News

The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been widespread.

Season 1 introduces a large cast of characters residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.

The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator stated recently. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

The creator says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.

That could imply viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.

"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."

The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.

"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."

Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
